Serinus proposes trekking itineraries in the Finalese area and the near Ligurian mountains with a patented naturalistic guide.

 

The little S.Lorenzo church is placed on a rocky cliff on the sea near Varigotti (Finale Ligure). The church is mentioned in a document dated XII century, but its origin is surely older, perhaps of Byzantine age. From 1995 the “Amici di San Lorenzo” association take care of the maintenance and preservation of this monument.

A short walk from Varigotti, Strada Vecchia (near Azienda Agricola Ruffino), to discover local flora and the origins of Varigotti; a look inside and around the church to listen its fascinating history. The whole visit needs about 1.5 hours.

Prices: 60 euro/group; 3 euro (each person) in case of 20 or more people (free for children up to 10 years old).

BOTANIC TREKKING AT CAMPOROTONDO

Half-a-day in the afternoon from Calvisio - Lacremà (Finale Ligure). Walking through mediterranean schrubs and flora to reach a silent place surrounded by a circle of stones fixed in the ground like a little Stonehenge.

GEOLOGIC TREKKING NEAR PERTI

Half-a-day in the afternoon from Perti alto (Finale Ligure). Landscape is signed by karstic phoenomena operating in calcareous rocks, including scenographic grottoes and caves. We will also visit the ruins of Castrum Perticae.

CARMO MOUNT AND ITS FLORA

Entire day from Giogo di Toirano (Toirano – Bardineto, on the main ridge of Ligurian mountains). Carmo Mount (1389 meters) is one of the most high summits of the area. It is considered a very important botanic limit for the Alpine flora. Flowerings and 360° landscape make it an ideal haunt for photographers.

MONUMENTAL BEECHES OF BENEVENTO

Entire day from the eolic farm of Pian dei Corsi (Calice Ligure). Trekking on the main ridge of Ligurian mountains in beechwoods to reach a group of 5 monumental trees, the major one having 7,7m of circumpherence.

THE WILD PATHS OF BORMIDA

Entire day from Bormida - Pian Soprano (high valley of torrent Bormida). Trough almost unknown paths, neither reported in trekking charts nor signed with marks, we will visit beechwoods once used for carbon production and chestnut woods where men left old pastoral houses.
